Douglas A. MacDonald, PhD
Dr. MacDonald is an academician and psychologist who has held a faculty position at the University of Detroit Mercy since 2000. He is an active researcher who has published articles in a variety of areas but is most known for his work on the measurement of spirituality and on the investigation of the relationship of spirituality to psychological, physical, and social functioning. He has been a strong advocate for the incorporation of science into transpersonal psychology throughout his career and published a co-edited a book in 2021 dedicated to evaluating the status of the subdiscipline with the intent of facilitating the adoption of science-informed scholarship and practice by members of the field. He serves in an editorial capacity for several journals including the Journal of Transpersonal Psychology, the International Journal of Transpersonal Studies, the Journal of Humanistic Psychology, and Frontiers in Psychology.
