Dr. Mariella Lauriola, Ph.D., M.S., B.S. 


Dr. Mariella Lauriola is a licensed clinical psychologist in California and is the founder and CEO of Trauma Healing Therapy, a private psychotherapy practice. For the past eight years, Dr. Lauriola has specialized in helping clients with trauma recovery and relationship challenges.  


Dr. Lauriola brings a diverse and comprehensive background in clinical psychology, neuropsychology, and neuroscience, having earned degrees and certificates from prestigious institutions in Italy, Spain, and California. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Psychobiology from Università degli Studi di Padova, Italy, and a Master of Science in Psychology and Neuroscience from Università degli Studi di Trento, Italy. Dr. Lauriola also completed a Ph.D. in Neuropsychology and Clinical Neuroscience through a joint program between Università degli Studi di Chieti/Pescara and the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). Additionally, she has obtained a Master’s in Psychological Counseling from Università degli Studi Niccolò Cusano, Rome, Italy, as well as Master's degrees in Couples Therapy, Clinical Sexology, and Family Therapy from Codex, Vigo, Spain. 

Prior to her current role of CEO at Trauma Healing Therapy, Dr. Lauriola has also made significant contributions to creating supportive environments for individuals facing severe trauma and psychiatric difficulties. She spearheaded the establishment of a housing environment dedicated to women dealing with severe trauma and psychiatric challenges. Dr. Lauriola was also involved in clinical research focusing on healthy aging, neuroscience, and neuropsychology, with a particular emphasis on advancing the prevention and early detection of Alzheimer's Disease. However, her true passion led her to transition to clinical practice in 2017.  


Dr. Lauriola has and still volunteers for numerous local and international non-profit organizations, including crisis suicide lines, Rape Trauma Services, Bay Area Cancer Connections, and Misión México in Tapachula, Mexico. 

Outside of her professional life, you’ll find Dr. Lauriola strolling by the ocean, dancing, practicing yoga, and cherishing quality time with her family and friends.
